On Nature: Merging Into the Spiritual Realm
When asked on the spot to remember a feeling, a memory of being elated, full of joy and happiness, I first wonder and think back, scanning my brain, it would be sad to imagine or admit that they might be so rare. I know I’ve had them - in moments, instances, glimpses usually involving nature. That’s it - it is usually the light that does it for me - that golden light filtering through the trees in the late afternoon and early evening. Times when the sky is a magnificent symphony of tones, shades and forms. When in gardens I feel an overwhelming sense of elatedness, a flood of feel good emotion. Time almost stops for me as I want to merge with the space - this connection with nature that dazzles my eyes and invisibly seeps into my skin. I also go crazy over flowers and the vibrant hues bursting with color. I am like an animal drawn to the vividness. Without fail, nature and particularly gardens lift up my soul and spirit. I am drawn to them and go to them in ritual. The experience is both cerebral, physical and spiritual.
