Healing Sessions in Ubud
Bali is known for its wellness and healing practices. Ever since I read a book years ago on Indonesian jammu (traditional herbal medicine), I wanted to experience this. I saw over the years how so many yogis were heading to Ubud and when I arrived there and spent some time, I easily understood why. Asia and the eastern world are known for their ancient holistic traditions of the body mind and massage is common there even on a daily basis; it is not something that is considered as much a luxury as it is in the west, but rather a regular part of a nourishing routine. From traditional healing and massage to spiritual types of healing, Bali has no shortage of practices to try and experience. I loved my results! Below are a few that I tried:
Kush Practitioners - The healing center part of the Yoga Barn complex; I saw Punnu and Adolf; my friend saw other healers. We both had excellent experiences.
Local Balians (Balinese healers) - I went with another group of wellness travelers and enjoyed this visit; it is part cultural experience (a huge one if you’re coming from the west) and part what you make of it.
Balinese Massage - Like in Thailand, you can experience massage magic every day due to affordable costs - I love having my energy moved around in a healing and cleansing way and the nourishment of human touch for the muscles, fascia and body energy
Pyramids of Chi - I went here twice. Once was for a sound gong bath immersion which was a delight. The second time was for a cacao ceremony that incorporated kundalini chanting and singing, ecstatic dance and closed with sound gong healing. Cacao is a sacred medicine that opens the heart. The voice is the second greatest healing mechanism after the gong so you can imagine the effect of all of these combinations together. No wonder we feel so much better with spirits lifted when singing or listening to music. We sang the most beautiful heart songs (like Within Me There is Boundless Love) and chanted the mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo (I am coming home, God, Spirit). This space is lovely as is the mission created by two Australians who felt the calling to build this sacred space about two years ago. I highly recommend visiting!
