Healthy Food in Bali
You can find good food everywhere in Bali. I am now gluten-free due to my stomach issues and also avoiding corn and rice even though I love the latter. In my opinion, all the healthy food trends in California and the rest of the US are even influenced by Bali as the world’s premier wellness destination these days, thanks to loads of Australian influence as well. There are tons of cafes for smoothies, fresh pressed juices, nut milks, superfoods, supplements, herbal tonics, kombucha, you name it.
The organic movement is thriving in Bali so you are never far from healthy options. These types of places are also outside of Ubud, which is the main destination for all the spiritual seekers and yogis. Seminyak, which is more of a beach and shopping destination in addition to party and/or resort type location, also abounds in healthy food and coffee shops galore for the hipster coffee lovers.
The only aspect I didn’t get is the juxtaposition of all this health and wellness with the continuation of smoking. I’m not trying to make a judgement, because it seems to be more of a cultural thing, but it is a bit ironic for me to see this atmosphere focused on health and wellness yet still with ashtrays for smokers. Nonetheless, I’m merely pointing out its existence.
Canggu also has many of these like Cafe Organic in Seminyak - there are typically several branches of the same store or cafe or coffeeshop. Once you go around to the different towns, you will start recognizing the names.
Seminyak: My friend and I tried several places so will share the ones we liked: Kynd and Cafe Organic (Garden Gangstas) are healthy type cafes with smoothies, juices, options for vegans and vegetarians, plenty of nut milks and superfoods - all of these are along or near Jalan Petitenget, one of the main thoroughfares. Bong Pipi channels Asian street food and has a simple, straightforward menu that delivers delicious dishes. We ate here often for breakfast and dinner. Revolver Coffee is also right down the street - not the main one, but a small version and it’s very cozy inside.
